About me
Hi! I’m Sara and I am a certified birth doula. I am a wife, mother to 4 amazing young kids, homeschooler, avid baker, budding herbalist, gardener, bzzzy beekeeper, and backyard chicken keeper. I enjoy making sourdough, baking goody treats, spending time in my garden, visiting local farmers markets, and volunteering in children’s church and children’s quizzing at our local church. I am passionate about helping moms and partners feel empowered and confident about their birth decisions all throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey!
What is a doula?
A doula means “a woman who serves” or “caregiver” and is a non-medical trained and experienced labor companion who provides a client and partner(s) with continuous emotional support, physical support, and assistance in obtaining information before, during, and just after childbirth. A doula advocates for her client and choices they have. A person with a doula is:
25% less time in labor
28% less likely to have a cesarean birth
31% less likely to use synthetic oxytocin to speed up labor
31% reduction of pain medication
9% less likely to use any pain medication
34% less likely to rate their childbirth experience negatively
